The 2008 Beneteau 40.7 National Championships were held on the 10th & 11th May in the central Solent, with the racing hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. The fleet consisted of 14 boats.

The Activ Race Team were once again on form aboard Addiction, ready for a weekend of intensive racing. The weather however had different ideas – while the blue skies were welcome, the 'mill pond' conditions, were not.

Saturday's racing was postponed for some time until late into the afternoon when a 6-8 knot breeze enabled the racing to commence. After a short postponement on Sunday the wind built up to 10 knots and treated the team to 3 races, the last 2 providing some of the closest racing of the weekend.

Addiction's results for the 6 races were: 3rd, 10th, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 4th

Paul Jenkins, Skipper and Helm commented:

"Although conditions were light, they demanded slick crew work and placed a great emphasis on effective tactical decisions. The team did an excellent job and we're pleased to be up on the winner's podium again - thanks to everyone for their great team work."

The Activ Team achieved a well deserved 3rd place overall and won the 'Best New Comer' award. Congratulations go Gareth Williams onboard 'Challenger' for first place and the National Championship title.

Here's looking forward to next year..
