Little Britain Challenge Cup

Event dates
Thursday 10th September until Sunday 13th September 2009
Event overview
The LBCC is organised by– and for – the Construction Industry and attracts the biggest UK gathering of senior figureheads from the construction and property industry. Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, racing is organised by the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron and takes place on the Solent. The event boasts some of the best racing and social events on the circuit, ensuring an excellent time for all, both on and off the water.
Participant eligibility
All of the major architects and contractors send teams to the event and most participants are high-level industry professionals and big decision makers. In keeping with the spirit of the event, the number of owner's representatives from outside the construction industry is limited.
Classes
Choose between Racing or Cruising classes, depending on ability (boats entering the Cruising classes sail without spinnakers). The final list of IRC classes are chosen once all of the entries are in, but in general there are IRC Racing and Cruising classes, Beneteau 40.7 and J/109 classes.
Activ charter options
All yachts are race prepared to the highest standard prior to the event, including a full rig check and hull scrub.

Racing information
The LBCC Regatta is based on the successful formula of a short series of races in the Central Solent area. The 2009 schedule will consist of one race on Thursday afternoon, two races on Friday and two races on Saturday. All races have equal status, but boats are allowed to discard their worst score if all five races have been sailed.
The Royal Yacht Squadron organises the racing and setting of the courses, giving all competitors the added excitement of Squadron line starts.
The entry process
Entries are accepted from May onwards. Simply contact us to discuss your preferred charter options and we’ll handle all aspects of your registration. The event is extremely popular and places are allocated on a first come-first served basis so booking early is always advised.

“Activ continue to provide us with first class, highly flexible personal service. Each part of the event was professionally managed and of high quality – the hospitality and catering on the motor cruiser has always been exceptional and great value for money, the crew provided were excellent and fitted in with our team brilliantly and not forgetting the superb RIB rides which everyone enjoyed (there is no greater cure than a 7am RIB ride for a hangover!). We are pleased to be working with Activ again for next year.”
Michael Byrne, Director - Ellmer Construction, Byrne Group.
