Event overview
The regatta is organised by - and for - the IT industry and is the largest annual sailing event within the industry. The event was established in 2000 by 4 senior figureheads wishing to combine their passion for sailing and their profession while raising money for charity. The event has become increasingly popular, attracting 650 people from over 200 companies in 2007. The event is run out of Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight and racing takes place on the Solent.
Participant eligibility
Entry is open to IT vendors, IT Departments and others associated with the industry. Most participants are high-level industry professionals and big decision makers. Competing teams include; manufacturers, Channel Partners, IT departments and other related suppliers. The majority of the key industry players are represented albeit in a variety of guises. Logos from Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle are all to be seen adorning the yachts.
Classes
The regatta is open to all classes of boat (both Racing and Cruising) and the use of spinnakers is open all.
Activ charter options
All yachts are race prepared to the highest standard prior to the event, including a full rig check and hull scrub.
