Silicon Cup
The first Silicon Cup was competed in the summer of 2000. In 2006 the event was contested by over 900 people, representing over 300 companies and again raised over £50,000 for nominated charities.
Who attends?
The regatta is organised by - and for - the IT industry. That includes not only the vendors but also IT Departments and others associated with the industry. Most participants are high-level industry professionals and big decision makers. Competing teams include; manufacturers, Channel Partners, IT departments and other related suppliers. The majority of the key industry players are represented albeit in a variety of guises. Logos from Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle are all to be seen adorning the yachts.
Where does it take place?
The regatta headquarters are located in the Cowes Yacht Heaven, Cowes, Isle of Wight. Racing takes place in the Solent.
